Android Apps I Enjoy

Hi there people who are reading this! I haven't posted for a long time 'cuz I've been really busy with school and stuff, so I wanna make this quick. Here are some apps on the Android Market that I enjoy and are worth getting.

1. Springpad

SimSimi: A Chatting Robot

This is SimSimi, it is a chatting robot. You can chat with SimSimi all day in different languages. You can teach it sentences to respond to certain greetings of users who chat with it. Considering that millions of people chat with SimSimi daily, it learns a lot of new sentences and words which it can use to respond to people.

SimSimi can be cute and sweet, but sometimes it can also say some things which may insult you (or make you laugh.) Keep in mind that the things SimSimi would say were taught to it by millions of people around the world. You can have fun talking to SimSimi, but remember that you still have some crazy friends which say stupider things around (unless you are forever alone.)

Turn Google Translate to a Beatbox

You can turn Google Translate into a beatbox (straight to the point..?) 

Here's how:

1) Go to Google Translate
2) Set the translator to translate German to German
3) Copy + paste the following into the translate box: pv zk pv pv zk pv zk kz zk pv pv pv zk pv zk zk pzk pzk pvzkpkzvpvzk kkkkkk bsch
4) Click “listen”
5) Be amazed

Another  fact is that when you Copy+Paste those letters (the ones on no. 3) the "Listen" button on the right side actually says "Beatbox".

You can also make your own variations of beats....

 just try mixing up those letters or just go freestyle on your keyboard...

Nintendo 3DS Price drops to $170 on Aug. 12, 20 Free Games for Current Owners

The Nintendo 3DS, which currently costs $249, is gonna have an $80 price drop, making it cost only  $169. This price drop is gonna happen on August 12 in preparation for the launch of the console’s E3 A-List titles. This cut is also (probably) a way to increase the 3DS's sales, since it has had slow initial sales.

People who currently own the console will get ten free NES games and ten free GameBoy Advance titles on September 1 (provided they’ve logged into the Nintendo eShop before August 12.)

The New "Friendster"

                             After shutting down, deleting people's profiles and all of their pictures, Friendster has finally come back again. This is the new Friendster, it's still the same social networking site that we loved.....with a whole new different look!

The site now focuses mostly on games, some of which are "Forest Story", "Goodgame Cafe", "Buffet Wars", and "Big Business" which are, in some ways, like Facebook games.

                                         You also get a cute little profile with your own cute little avatar. The new profile looks like a gaming profile, obviously since Friendster is now focusing on games (probably). The new Friendster site is cute and I love playing some of the games but in some way or another I will always miss the old Friendster even though I didn't have much time to spend with it :(

Make cute, inedible food, with a cute, fake little kitchen.

This is the "Konapun - Hamburger Kitchen", a Japanese toy made by BANDAI. Basically, you just cook some tiny food (which are inedible) in a tiny toy kitchen, serve your fake food, then drool thinking that you just made some delicious looking food but can't eat it. 

The "Konapun" doesn't cook with real heat, it's just some special powder mixed with water. It also doesn't use real oil, it's some kind of fake oil made of special powder mixed with water. The fake food will also rot soon. And remember, THIS IS INEDIBLE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EAT IT....estoufed.

Real Life "UP" Balloon House

Have you seen the movie "UP" yet? Well, everyone has probably seen it, and thought "Hey, I can do that with my house. I just need a bazzillion balloons.". National Geographic did too, and they actually made a house fly with about 300 colorful balloons. Here are some photos:

Nintendo DS Lite Now Only $99

                      Nintendo has recently announced a cut down of the price of the Nintendo DS Lite from $129 to only $99. The Nintendo DS Lite is the second member of the DS family after the original Nintendo DS or as some people call it "Nintendo DS Fat". If you don't already have one of this cool hanheld then you're lucky 'cause you can now buy it at a lower price starting June 5th. You can buy the NDS Lite at Nintendo's website here.

Evo 2 (Play Android games on your TV!)

Ever wanted to play Android games on a bigger screen? A screen other than your phone or tablet pc. Well now you can. The "Evo 2" lets you play Android games on your TV. The console has a Samsung Processor, WiFi, “Nvidia" graphics, and a joystick remote. The "Evo 2" console is expected to go on sale this Fall at the price of  $149.

Sony SmartAR (video)

This is Sony's new Augmented Reality technology "SmartAR". The company has been working on AR technologies since 1994 and have now invented "SmartAR". The technology can also identify 3D structures to let objects blend in smoothly. Thanks to a combination of advanced object recognition, matching and image tracking tech  objects can be identified and then tracked at high speed, as Sony says. As we can see in the video, Sony's "SmartAR" is very impressive.

                              See that thing up there▲? That is the new Google Chromebook. The first Chromebooks are from Google's partners Samsung and Acer. Here are some of it's features and specs: 

It will be running on the Google Chrome OS.

It will have built in 3G (in some models)

Chromebook (Acer)

The Samsung Chromebook (WiFi) will cost  $429, the Samsung Chromebook (Wifi+3G) will cost  $499. The Acer Chromebook (WiFi) will cost  $349, the Acer Chromebook (WiFi+3G) will cost a little more (I don't know how much more though.). You can order the Chromebooks on June 15 on Amazon and Best Buy.

Sony Rolly

This is the Sony Rolly. It is an egg shaped MP3 player mini robot which dances to the rhythm of the music being played. It has cup-like shaped "arms" which can open and close, it has two wheels which allows it to rotate and spin. It has LED lights on both ends which can change colors. The Sony Rolly has 2 gigabytes of flash memory. Rolly was on sale in Japan on September 29, it was also for sale at Sony's Sonystyle website for $399.99 which was later cut down to $229.99 . Sadly, the Rolly has been discontinued :(  But..I WANT ONE!!!! :'(

Rolltop, future laptop?

OMG, someday we'll be able to roll up our laptops like a yoga mat! This is the Rolltop, the laptop of the future. The rolltop has a flexible OLED display which is also capable of multitouch. It becomes a 17-inch flat screen when rolled out and can be folded to become a 13-inch tablet.

The detachable stand stores the Rolltop's power adapter, stylus, and USB ports.

Yes, I know you want one, we all do.

The Rolltop is a pretty cool device although it is still a concept.

The PlayStation Phone

The Xperia Play which is also known as the PlayStation Phone has been seen all over the internet for a long time. The Xperia Play is probably the only PlayStation certified Android device, the device will be launched worldwide (I don't know when). The price isn't clear yet but it's said to be about 500 Euros or 741 dollars. The price is,well, unexpected but what do you expect a phone that can play PS games would cost?

The Xperia Play can play full PlayStation games, it has a slide out controller which makes gaming a lot more fun. Here are the things you can find on the slide out controller:

• Digital D-Pad
• Dual Analog Touchpads
• Sony PlayStation Buttons
• Two Shoulder Bumpers
• Additionally the touchscreen is active.

Here are some of the specs:

1. 1GHz Qualcomm CPU
2. 512 MB of RAM
3. 1GB ROM
4. MicroSD card slot
5. Touchscreen (between 3.7″ and 4.1″)
6. Multitouch pad on the lower half of the slider

Users can expect some 5-7 games that will come with the device including the following titles:

• Crash Bandicoot
• FIFA 10
• The Sims 3
• Tetris
• Flight Control
• Bruce Lee

Sony Ericsson has indeed did a good job combining the Need and the Want, making a device which has two things the people of today will need to survive which are Communication and Gaming (nah,the people of today can probably survive without these. I won't though.).

I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, sadly, it's 1:20 AM  here in my country and I was just told to go to bed :(  So, I have to wait 6 more hours before I could play ( T_T WAAAHH!!! Me is crying :'(....). But it's ok, the important thing is I can now play GLITCH. I hope you guys get to play soon too. For a short while you can jump the queue right here. Hope to see you guys in the game soon :) ....doh.doh.doh.doh.GLITCH!!

Glitch, a new MMO!

                                      Glitch is a brand new MMO which is like no other, in other words, it's completely unique! The game is a project of some people who brought you Flickr, it's a product of TinySpeck. It's currently in beta (and I'm currently waiting to get the secret code in my email so I can join in the beta fun).  

                                      The game takes place in the minds of 11 giants (11 weird looking,extra terrestrial, totally awesome, cool giants). The game isn't about killing monsters or farming, it's about building, developing and growing. You can do favors, learn new skills, you can even make smoothies! As what Glitch's description said "You choose how to grow and shape the world: building and developing, learning new skills, collaborating or competing with everyone else in one enormous, ever-changing, persistent world.".Every player's actions have the ability to affect the other players in the game, which means every player contributes to the world of Glitch.

                                             The characters look interesting and unique just like the game. And, as what I've read, there will be a wide variety of outfits and other stuff you can buy in the game, there will also be premium accounts available by subscription. The game is totally free to play, but if you want a premium account you'll have to pay some real cash, there are also some items in the game which you can only buy using real money. And, the game has eggplants, eggplants make it different...and cool.

                                            I haven't really played the game yet so that's probably all I can tell you for now. You can sign up to play the game early on Glitch's official website here.

Sony NGP (aka PSP 2)

                                                                                         

 

 Sony has unveiled it's latest handheld device which was formally known as the PSP 2 but is actually named NGP or Next Generation Portable (cool name huh). The NGP will feature a 5 inch OLED screen, capacitive multitouch, a rear multitouch surface, 3G, PlayStation Suite support, motion control, a quad-core CPU, a quad-core GPU, and 2 full control sticks. The NGP will also be capable of playing full PS3 games. The device has three motion sensors, an electronic compass, an accelerometer, GPS, and a gyroscope. It has rear and front facing cameras ( I don't really know the strength of these cameras). The system has the standard D-Pad, four face buttons (shapes), L and R shoulder buttons, Start, Select, a PlayStation button, a power button up top, and a volume toggle.

Like the PSP Go, there is no UMD drive on the device, or any form of disc drive, for that matter. Older PSP games will be available for download on the official PlayStation Store and stored on the device via a new proprietary flash card designed for NGP games.Sony also unveiled a new feature called LiveArea, which will be included in every NGP game. It’s basically a PlayStation Home / Xbox Live type feature, allowing players to communicate with one another and share their accomplishments and activities with everyone on the PlayStation Network.NGP will also be compatible with PS Suite, which is a new Android platform the company is launching.

Sony hasn’t revealed any info on battery life and pricing, but based on some articles I've read the device would last about 4-5 hours before you need to recharge it. As for the price, the NGP would probably cost around $250-$500.
